A Gastronomic Journey at Za Kantuni: Flavorful Starters and Beyond Our delightful detour at Za Kantuni in Mali Losinj was an unforgettable experience. What started as a casual exploration quickly transformed into a feast for the senses, thanks to their commitment to fresh, local ingredients and impeccable service. The moment we stepped in, the friendly staff made us feel welcome, setting the tone for a memorable evening. Our culinary adventure began with a diverse selection of starters, each showcasing the restaurant's dedication to quality and local flair. The beef tartare was a revelation - finely chopped with just the right touch of seasoning, it teased our taste buds with its rich, meaty flavor. The beef & donkey salami offered a unique and savory experience, while the octopus carpaccio presented a stunning display of delicate texture and vibrant freshness. Each bite was a testament to Za Kantuni's commitment to using the best possible ingredients. But the true stars of the show were the main courses. The fresh catch seabass arrived cooked to perfection, its natural sweetness and flaky texture a celebration of the Adriatic Sea's bounty. Every mouthful was a testament to the skill of the kitchen, showcasing the inherent deliciousness of fresh seafood. However, the undisputed champion of the night was the Pljukanci with boskarin beef. The homemade pasta, crafted with tender love, offered a delightful textural contrast to the rich, flavorful beef sauce. It was a truly remarkable dish, easily one of the most memorable pasta experiences I've ever had. Beyond the delectable food, the exceptional service deserves its own applause. The staff at Za Kantuni were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they served. They took the time to answer our questions and offer recommendations, adding a personal touch that elevated the dining experience. Leaving Za Kantuni, we knew we had stumbled upon a culinary gem. It's not just a restaurant; it's a place where tradition meets modern culinary artistry, resulting in dishes that are both innovative and deeply satisfying. The combination of fresh, local ingredients, skilled cooking, and warm hospitality makes Za Kantuni a must-visit for anyone exploring Mali Losinj. We left with full stomachs, happy hearts, and a promise to return for another incredible culinary adventure! Highly recommended!
The food was delicious, well made local food. The fried octopus was tender and the accompanying avocado paste was excellent. The cheese filled ravioli with black truffles is a must try in my option. To our surprise the bread was freshly made focaccia which I would certainly recommend to try. Price-quality ratio was very good.
Great food. Perfect service. They cook how it should be. They start cooking several dishes 2-3 hours before you arrive (beka style). Meaning... The meat is... just perfect. If you know about gourmet... go and enjoy.
Beautiful anchovies starter and an amazing autumn dish: Cheese ravioli with a thick, earthy, comforting porcini sauce and some perfect medium-rare beef filet strips - yummy! The grilled squid was definitely the freshest of the trip, crispy and tender at the same time, but more simple than the porcini special. Curious to taste more!
We have never had a bad meal here. Each dish has been wonderfully prepared and delicious. Their accompanying bread is amazing. Service is prompt and courteous. It’s in a quiet spot, hidden behind the crowds on the main harbor.
The restaurant offers an extraordinary experience on the Adriatic. The turbot we tried was among the best we've ever had – perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The waitress was exceptionally kind and attentive, which added to our overall sense of comfort throughout the evening. The bread was excellent, fresh, and tasty, while the mussels were incredibly fresh. To top it off, they even gave us complimentary rakija. The prices are absolutely reasonable, making this place ideal for anyone looking for a top-notch meal at affordable prices. We highly recommend this restaurant!
We've been dining at Restaurant Za Kantuni for several years now, and it has become our family's go-to spot for delicious local dishes. The food here is always fresh with a wide variety of traditional dishes. This year, they added a fantastic kid's corner. Our children love playing there while we wait for our food, making the dining experience more enjoyable for everyone.
